London has been my home for almost 20 years and for the last 16 years I have photographed this city almost every single week. From the financial districts and underground stations to markets, side streets and everyday life, London became part of my visual language and documentary approach. During these five days, I will take you through the way I personally work, observe and build photographs inside a constantly moving city. This is not a workshop based only on β€œwalking and shooting.” It is a practical experience where we will discuss positioning, anticipation, confidence, interaction with people, storytelling, layering, light, composition and how to create photographs with atmosphere and meaning. For four full days, we will photograph in different areas of London and approach multiple themes and styles inside street and documentary photography: Street Documentary Storytelling & Observation Layering & Complex Scenes Street Portraiture Minimalist Photography Working with Light & Shadows Human Interaction & Confidence on the Street Building a Personal Visual Voice I will also explain how I adapt my approach depending on the location, light, crowd and energy of the city, including how and why I switch between different focal lengths while working. Recommended focal lengths for this masterclass: 21mm β€’ 35mm β€’ 50mm (full frame equivalent) The fifth day will be dedicated entirely to editing, image selection and portfolio discussions at the Leica Store Mayfair, where we will analyze photographs, discuss sequencing, editing decisions and the importance of building consistency inside a body of work. To ensure a highly personal and immersive learning experience, this masterclass is limited to a maximum of 5 participants. If you want to understand not only how to take photographs, but how to see, anticipate and work inside a real city environment, this masterclass was built exactly for that.
