A city shaped by history, contrast, and constant transformation, Berlin offers a unique visual playground where grit meets minimalism, and silence collides with urban chaos. This experience is crafted for photographers who want to push beyond aesthetics and dive deeper into narrative-driven imagery — refining their visual language, strengthening compositional instinct, and learning how to build powerful, layered frames within one of Europe’s most complex cities. Throughout the workshop, we will explore documentary layering in a setting defined by contrasts — from brutalist architecture and vast open spaces to intimate human moments unfolding in between. You will work on intuitive street portraiture, focusing on authenticity, timing, and the subtle tension that defines human presence in Berlin’s streets. We will place strong emphasis on anticipation, rhythm, and the use of light as a storytelling tool — whether harsh, diffused, or fragmented by the city’s architecture. Through group discussions and individual feedback, you will refine your photographic voice and develop a more coherent and intentional body of work. Recommended lenses for this Masterclass are 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm — perfect for capturing both the scale of Berlin and the intimacy hidden within it.
